      Pros

      Great place to work. Very employee positive work environment. Most managers are truly people-oriented and genuinely interested in YOUR upward movement and improved performance. Great facilities in the downtown St. Paul location and access to the Skyway system is a real plus - particularly for those who may choose to live downtown.

      Cons

      The sheer size of the company means recognition is a stairstep process. For the average employee, there is little interaction with the upper levels of management. Like any large company, there is the potential for stifling creativity if midlevel managers aren't doing their jobs. This is a rarity at MN Mutual.

      Pros

      Work life balance, job security, advancement opportunities, friendly people to work with. Defined benefit and defined contribution plans along with a profit sharing plan and generous time off are amazing benefits. The people you work do go out of their way to make sure you are understanding things aren't doing something that is wholly compartmentalized.

      Cons

      Not on the cutting edge of technology for software, tied to legacy systems without hope of getting off them. Sometimes it seems like the company is a little cheap with small things but the profit sharing does making up for it in the final analysis. Sometimes it doesn't always seem that everything that could be communicated within reason is communicated.

      Pros

      Securian is a great place to work since the company is huge on work life balance. The people that work here at really nice and there is a relaxed atmosphere almost all the time. Their benefits package is pretty attractive (PSP, pension, good medical coverage, etc) and even if the salary isn't the most competitive in the market, they make up for it with their benefits.

      Cons

      There isn't a lot of ethnic diversity in the company sadly.
