      Very stable - protect associates from layoffs. Recent selloff of retirement division included provision for every one of 300+ associates to receive a commensurate job offer at new company. Good benefits - including pension

      Cons

      - lower salary than available at other insurers - perhaps because Securian provides for pension - slower to adjust to market conditions
