Pros

Flexible work hours . Currently working from home

Cons

I am a dedicated, self-motivated employee with good work ethic. This position is overwhelming with an unrealistic workload. It has taken away any sense of accomplishment as there is a never ending workload. 100% burnout. Upper Management seems to be "numbers" people with zero regard to the amount of work associated the comes along with each client/claims. The ridiculous workload leaves every employee in a situation of constant complaints, everyone needing everything yesterday. This job is relentless and I will be leaving ASAP.

Pros

PTO if you can get it

Cons

Pay should be a lot higher for the job you are given. Training is lackluster you learn more from your mentor. They throw you out to the wolves with the promise of a “help line” that has rude people taking your call. Prepare for constant system issues and lack of help from IT as well. This was the most stressful confusing job I have ever had and I would not advise anyone to work here. Prepare to have no family time because they schedule you for mid morning or noon until 8pm or later. They won’t accommodate you and PTO is a huge joke. Stay away if you can.

Pros

This is a great place for a first job or to get claim handling experience. The jobs at the WDSM location are very self-directed. You have be self-directed and use your time wisely otherwise you'll be staying late or coming in on the weekends. Since Sedgwick is a TPA, you will regularly engage with big name clients that are retailers, fast food companies, pizza companies, sodapop companies, etc. You will be handling claims for these companies that are either property damage or worker's compensation claims. This will give you great experience to work for the more larger insurance companies in Des Moines. The workloads can be pretty high, but a lot of the workloads require bare minimum action. Thus, you will be working on a lot of cases, but they don't require dire attention. The building location is safe and clean. The building is shared with many other businesses. There is ample parking. There's a nice lap trail behind the building that can be used to "get moving" during breaks. There are lots of restaurants nearby if you choose to go out for lunch. The company hosts several potlucks through the year and occasionally will cater in for business meetings.

Cons

The work environment is so bizarre. There's a family vibe from some of the older women who work their and then there's a mean girls club run by the younger women. These women will go on walks together - there's literally 6 or 7 of them at a time walking through the halls. If you want to be promoted, you have to be one of them. These women will regularly wear yoga pants even though that is against the dress code. Since the few male management engage in inappropriate behavior and questionable hiring practices, the dress code violation will not be addressed. These women regularly engage in inappropriate conversations and gossip about other employees. It feels like high school 2.0 but with women from ages 20 to 38. There are few male employees and they all stick to themselves.
