Pros
- Some really good clever people; you could learn a lot. - If you like travel there are plenty of opportunities. - Good location in Edinburgh. - Some really interesting work. - Flexible working hours (sometimes!)
Cons
- Salaries are below industry standard. - Communication between engineering, sales and management is broken. - Company suffers from educational snobbery. A lot of folk have PHDs and they are treated better than others without. - Too many managers and not enough engineers to do the work. - New CMMI processes mean little changes to code take a frustratingly long time to implement. - No standard pay grading. An engineer can earn more than a manager just because they are in the 'right' circle. - If you don't like travel it could be an issue. - Training is very limited. - Becoming very profit orientated at the expense of quality. - Dress code (even though we are not customer facing!)
