Pros

limited, they give uber eats

Cons

The departments all have their different issues. The IT/tech department/org is set in ways regarding organization and assignments that are not productive. The pay for IT is poor, and most employees use it as a stepping stone to other companies. Management is not open to suggestions regarding pay or other things. I left the company for a $20,00 raise for similar responsibilities and SQ only offered a $5,000 raise. The overall culture in the IT area is poor. There is constant talking bad about agents, and security employees have been fired for reporting basic security vulnerabilities that management was not willing to change due to the impact on end users. Helpdesk has serious culture issues with new managers constantly being piled on while there simply is not enough hands on deck to support the numerous agent classes. The company stock has performed poorly on the market. Do not recommend buying. The overall technology, at least on the backend is buggy and resource intensive with outdated practices. The front end supposedly works well for agents and admins. I am not on a agent facing team, but I have heard sales at Selectquote is a typical sales position with high performers getting better opportunities at high quality leads while those starting out in sales get low quality leads, leading to less sales. Most agents are required to have their camera on the whole day so they can be monitored to ensure they are working (hourly pay + commissions). It is easy to get a sales job though, just find a current employee at the company on LinkedIn and have them refer you. If interested in the company, I would encourage any potential candidate to use it purely as a stepping stone to another company. Be sure to find a current employee on LinkedIn so they can refer you (they get a $ bonus too, all the better).

Pros

I genuinely liked most of the people I worked with. Yearly bonuses are nice and salary is ok. A high-growth company has its perks and there is plenty of room to make a meaningful impact on the business. If you’re good at your job you will not be siloed in one area. Agents do have the potential to do pretty well for themselves.

Cons

I would say that the biggest underlying issue is the pace of growth and the leadership's commitment to keeping it up. Growing revenues has gone great but it has resulted in a business dynamic where you can see someone who was hired as a producer-analyst-or manager a few years prior become a Vice President, which sounds good and is admirable, but you wind up with people who lack experience calling shots in a multi-billion dollar operation. These leadership decisions can cause tough situations for people in middle management or those who do the leg work. This is not to say that this dynamic hasn't worked or is a complete bust, there are some good leaders around and leverage their understanding of the business. Given the growth of the firm, someone who was hired when it was a $1 billion/year company will be leading a $2.25 billion/year company in two years' time and it is easy to outgrow anyone's skillset with a pace like that. Other issues are secondary but include a low commitment to company culture, poor communication, high agent turnover that goes unaddressed, and understaffed tech teams who do their best but produce sub-par products. On a personal level, it's pretty easy to work to burnout due to expectations and low resources, which seems the case for a lot of people.

Pros

Some make great money. Many don’t.

Cons

Most customers are solicited by 3rd party marketers that consistently lie to them.
