      Pros

      Nice people in the US office

      Cons

      Where do I begin? There are too many to count. - Very low and poor compensation compared to the market. Be prepared to be underpaid by 50% below the market wage. - US employees are constantly on edge from being overworked and underpaid. People were quitting left and right. Average tenure of US managers was around 8 months. - Russian leadership does not trust US employees. Russian employees treat their US counterparts very rudely and abrasively. - Russian micro managers will micromanage the HELL out of you. - No US developers. All developers are based out of the Russian office and are very bad at communication. - Be prepared to be talked down at by people from the Russian office. Be prepared to handle constant rude behaviour. - No upward mobility unless your friends with the people in the Russian office - Some product documentation is documented in Russian which is a huge pain.

      How did it all go wrong?

      Pros

      Colleagues are great, we all collaborate in order to hit quota. The Philly office is nice. The product is good and most customers rely on Semrush on a weekly basis. Because customers know and understand Semrush getting the sale is more straightforward than with other SaaS companies.

      Cons

      The sales team used to be such a great place to work. I would have recommended it to anyone but certainly not anymore. The morale has dropped considerably over the last 3-4 months. This was an amazing place to work even a year ago but that is certainly not the case anymore. Communication is basically zero under new leadership. when things are communicated it is either the day before a big change or days after the change has occurred. Sales reps have been kept in the dark sometimes days or weeks into the month on what quota is and what counts towards quota. Sales reps are required to fill out stagnant Excel sheets for each account while the company simultaneously has a well-managed CRM. This doubles the or triples clerical work considering the Excel document doesn't automatically update as the CRM does. It is almost funny how representative this task is to the direction of the sales team.

      The pros are really good, but the cons are REALLY bad

      Pros

      You will get to work with exceptionally talented and driven peers. You'll learn a lot and see marketing challenges from a new perspective. This can set you up for long-term career success. The pay and benefits are competitive, and remote work and travel opportunities make this an appealing company to work for.

      Cons

      Marketing senior leadership is some of the worst you will ever encounter. At times, the behavior from senior leaders seems cruel for sport. The environment is heavily political: One day you're a favorite, the next you're being scapegoated or gaslighted. Constant changes and terminations create a culture of anxiety and fear.
