Pros

The product is fantastic, it is one of the best products I have worked in my life.

Cons

I was hired as an Account Executive at the beginning of this year While the salary looked great on paper, the reality is quite different. The company uses a metric called "below the line," where deals with a Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) below $1,000 only earn you 40% commission. In my seven months at Semrush, over 80% of my deals fell below this line, resulting in minimal commission, even if you achieve your monthly target , which is very challenging. Semrush aims to position its Enterprise solution ambitiously but lacks patience. The monthly quota makes it impossible to plan strategically for the long term, as they demand quick results. The work environment is driven by fear, unlike anything I've experienced before. Management focuses heavily on micromanagement metrics, such as the number of calls and emails sent, rather than trusting their employees. There is no space to express your concerns, they are not interested in that. There is no work-life balance; expect to work 12-hour days to meet your goals and attend numerous meetings where you constantly have to justify your actions. There is no room for failure—they demand results every single month. Even if you achieve over 100% of your quota one month, it doesn’t matter, as they don't evaluate results quarterly. This approach is unreasonable and unsustainable.

Dear colleague, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’d like to address some of your concerns: First, we’re delighted to hear you appreciate the product! Regarding your experience with the company, we’re sorry to hear you’re considering other opportunities. We take all management concerns very seriously. So much so, that earlier this year, we launched a leadership development program to improve our managers’ support for their teams. In terms of goals and commissions, our compensation structure is designed to reward performance and align with our business targets. Sales is a results-driven function, and commissions reflect individual efforts and achievements. We also fully understand the importance of work-life balance while meeting monthly goals. We encourage you to discuss any workload or prioritization concerns with your HRBP or manager. Your feedback is essential for our improvement. Thank you once again! Yours, the Semrush Team
