Toxic leadership and culture

Pros

Benefits: medical insurance, hobby benefit, corporate gifts, remote/hybrid work.

Cons

- Toxic leadership in the sales department. - You cannot openly say what you don't like or you want to improve in terms of processes, most likely you'll be reported to the head or VP of sales. - If you have a lot of tasks to do and you ask to review the workload, the best advice you get is to skill up your time management but still you have to work 12 hours per day because they don't care about you and your mental health. - They lay off people without reason and never explain why these people got fired. Even though sometimes they don't announce that somebody left the team. These people just disappear. - Micromanagement, pressure, depreciation, shifting of responsibility. - They constantly roll new processes out without thinking about consequences. Very poor project management, they talk about automatization however every time you have to do more and more manual work. - A lot of people quitting the job because of unrealistic expectations, high pressure and toxic culture. - HR doesn't stand for you, they just report you to the VP of sales and then you pack your belongings because you get fired. - On the sidelines they say they can do anything with relocated employers because you "own" it to the company. They simply abuse you. - You better take screenshots of your compensation because they underpay you. - Corporate culture is deteriorating exponentially.

Dear Sender, Let us be honest, it’s 100% heartbreaking to see such a review. We wish our employees could never experience any negative emotions connected with their employer, and we’ve thought we did as much as possible here. Seems that there are a lot of areas for improvement. Thank you for the feedback. Not as excuses, but as facts: - We always know exactly why we part ways with employees. There are specific reasons for that. For the Sales Team, the most common indicators of success are achievements of KPIs and plans. - We’re very open to any questions from employees no matter what level of manager you are going to ask a question. - We always announce all structural changes for the company in the official Slack channel as soon as possible. It’s a must. If it wasn’t done, perhaps it's a human factor. - If we see something that doesn't work (process, approach), we’ll change it immediately. Сonstant changes are in our DNA. Yes, it can be uncomfortable for people, but it’s our way to achieve goals, and we speak about it openly. - In regards to underpaying: this sounds highly improbable. There is always room for mistakes, of course, but in this case, we always admit it and correct it as soon as possible. In any case, we are truly sorry you were disappointed by us, but we hope we’ll stay friends! And we wish you all the best in your future career. Yours, Semrush Team.

Pros

- Good product (best product in MarTech) - Helpful/ teamwork oriented colleagues in the sales department - Very flexible regarding working hours and location - First line managers are fine.

Cons

- The compensation plan is deteriorating with each quarter. - Pay is inconsistent and heavily dependent on deal size, where hitting 100% of your target with smaller deals may only earn you 33% of your bonus. - Leadership is increasingly micromanaging, requiring excessive administrative tasks like detailed reporting and SFDC management. Manual double or triple reporting on many KPI's even though they are logged automatically in SFDC. - Leadership is disconnected from the product and regional market's needs. (The world is not the USA) - Large salary discrepancies exist between long-time employees and newcomers, with new hires often earning nearly double, despite less industry (MarTech) experience and lower performance.

Dear Colleague, Thanks for the review! We hear your concerns about your work experience, but honestly, not much has changed in our approach since last year. The company is growing, and we’re still all about productivity, quality, and efficiency. Our attention to KPIs is essential for securing big deals and maintaining momentum, but we’re equally committed to offering great benefits, career growth opportunities, and competitive, fair salaries. We really appreciate your feedback and want everyone to feel supported as we continue to evolve. If there’s anything else on your mind, don’t hesitate to reach out to your HR. Yours, the Semrush Team
