Pros

- great colleagues and middle management - good salaries and benefits - WFH

Cons

used to be a great place to work but about a year and a half or so most of the c-levels were replaced with corporate america-types who made constant impulsive decisions that misaligned most departments away from common goals. decisions to "cut costs" come from haste and quick-win mentality instead of prioritizing efficiency and long-term value. due to frequent layoffs, most recent being a few weeks ago, the previously collaborative and supportive environment became one of fear and uncertainty. each change would end up essentially being for nothing as any initiative would be abandoned for a new one every few weeks - frequent instability and gaps between decision and results. in the midst of all this chaos, the product feels abandoned, outdated, and deceptive.

Pros

- Modern office, nothing extra, but looks good, with a coffee machine, snacks, etc. - Of course, there were good, nice people too.

Cons

- Fired in one day, without explanation - when I asked, what the reasons, they said "all very bad" and what I'm not focused enough - But I have a minor mental disorder and which I mentioned before getting hired on the final interview call with the team. - And I completed all the assigned tasks on time - CTO said what they will send me a full description of reasons, an explanation and a feedback - No one sent anything, even after I asked a couple of times. Total ghosting - But they locked my working mac remotely within an hour - then the humiliating extraction of personal files from a locked mac in the security department - Most of the team members were arrogant, but the PM was also toxic, using phrases like, "I'm not pressuring you" when in fact he was pressuring me in personal calls. - So their DEI, "we are not a company, but a family", "friendly team" - it's all a lie, people are just numbers for them. - Office - toxic positivity messed with casual toxicity, arrogance and paranoia - A lot of bureaucracy related to goals of the team, teamwork itself, equipment, internal courses, etc. - Totally unproductive workflow: as software engineer I spent an average 8-12 hours per week for team and internal courses calls, up to 21 hours of top record. - And the salary is below the market average

Dear Sender, We understand that parting ways with an employer is not always a pleasant event. Emotions at such a moment do not always allow an accurate reflection of what is really happening. We wish you the best of luck on your further journey! Yours, the Semrush Team

Pros

If you're very young, you might learn some tricks.

Cons

Very toxic. HR reviews are just opportunities for managers to tear down their own team. They act like everyone else is clueless while they think they're the only ones who know what’s what. Most jobs aren’t even advertised anymore—upper management just brings in their own people without any real screening. HR’s concern is a total sham; you can see it in the way they handle reviews. They yap about teamwork in theory, but in practice, nothing ever changes. And don’t even get me started on the ridiculous requests with absurd 48- to 72-hour deadlines.

Dear Colleague, We’re truly sorry to hear that you have such negative feelings about working with us. Please know that fostering a toxic atmosphere is not part of our culture—we strive to maintain a friendly and positive work environment. While challenges may arise from time to time, the majority of our employees describe the company spirit quite differently. Regarding your concerns about nepotism and the open role—we assure you that this is not the case. All new roles are published on career websites, as that is the only way we invite candidates to participate in the interview process. We hope that, in time, your concerns will ease and that you’ll feel happy at Semrush again. If not, please let us know how we can support you. Yours, the Semrush Team
