Pros

Sentara has a friendly atmosphere depending on which facility you go to.

Cons

The pay is a little on the lower side for employees that are not clinical personnel.

Pros

Depends what unit you work on. There are six ICU's. General, Neuro, Burn/trauma, Vascular, Cardiology, and Cardiac Surgery. Each are different. Burnout is high in burn/trauma and cardiac surgery from my experience with turnover frequently 1-2 years, due to patient acuity and workload. Other nurses have said general and vascular have many nurse there 10-20 years. Resource nurses make even more but be ready to work in step-down units more often than ICU. Management has been supportive.

Cons

Pay is low across the region, however you can make decent pay with differentials. $4/hrs nights and $6/hrs weekend. Some units offer call-pay which is time-and-a-half for additional shifts.
