Management is so unaware of what they are doing. They did layoffs last year and August, then did a massive layoff to their home team in December right before Christmas, and are laying off more people this month. There are always promises that they are acquiring new deals and they preach about being profitable but they aren’t. They just brought over some other employees while getting ready to lay off more of their own. Do not take the risk. Communication is also horrible. You never know what is happening at the top even though they preach transparency.

Lack of clarity around their value proposition and what their brand story is started showing up in gaping holes last year....and remains completely unclear even after a recent acquisition. Their culture is now extremely toxic and continues to show signs of getting worse, from the decision to layoff over half the corporate staff a week before Christmas to save a buck to continued turnover on the leadership team....with good leaders being cut and sycophantic ones remaining. To say they don’t care about their employees or fixing the underlying issues that need to be addressed in order for the company to operate successfully would be an understatement. Telling a good story about generating revenue trumps everything. Even if its not entirely accurate. Giving any sort of constructive feedback = you are a troublemaker and it will be the demise of your job. They say they welcome feedback and help identifying areas of improvement but the sheer number of people that have been let go after speaking up paints an entirely different story.

Lack of consistency and structure. Operates like a start up and has constant changes. Communication and transparency is lacking. Lots of layoffs and overnight changes. Work / life balance is lacking and you feel bad for using pto. Health insurance could be better.

Sentral is an unfortunate waste of good money, people, and effort. It is hard to say whether the company would be able to execute on what could be a profitable idea if it had the right management in place, clearly it does not. Starting off with a lack of direction, mass layoffs, and misplaced energy will lead to further demoralization and ineffectiveness, even for a start up.

Sentral performs much like their properties themselves, pretty on the outside and an absolute mess on the inside. They will grossly under-appreciate you until you begin to whittle away your own self respect. Once they have you there, that's where they'll keep you until you burn out or quit. I've seen gross incompetence drive away some pretty stellar people, leaving only the worst of the bunch leftover since they're all in charge. If the endless layoffs won't get you, you'll probably end up quitting yourself. Save yourself months (or unfortunately years) of your life and find another company.

VC backer/owners hold all decision making power, with little input from those who are actually doing the work/analysis. I (and many, many others) felt increasingly frustrated as this relationship played out - so many opportunities for easy wins and areas of change , but our recommendations were consistently vetoed. Sentral Leadership continually "refines" their roadmap/strategy; it's obvious there is no set strategy or roadmap to speak of. This resulted in Sr. Director/Director/Manager level associates spinning our wheels, working tirelessly, and ultimately getting nowhere. Couple this with the end of 2022 layoffs, remaining Home Team associates attempting to band-aid and backfill, and non-existent efforts to merge newly onboarded Align Residential associates onto the team. It's no surprise that tenured associates resigned in early 2023 and continue to do so - what do you expect? And FYI - Sentral has a 2023 OKR specifically tied to increasing Glassdoor reviews. The new influx of 5 star reviews on this platform is curious.
