Pros

Sephora truly invests in education. The company invests in its employees in order to fully prepare and care for the needs of Sephora customers. I can't speak enough about the educational benefits. An 8 week orientation is typically required before you can even start working on the floor (at least that was the case when I started). There are always new products and technology that makes one excited to work in this industry. My favorite thing about working at Sephora is that employees are able to be honest about what will and will not be appropriate for different needs. We are best able to discover a customer's needs and address those needs with the best fitting products to their needs rather than sell them something "because we have to". It's nice to leave the brand bias at the counters. We are able to sell all brands (after educated on them). I also love that we do not work on commission, so the we are all able to truly work as a team-- utilizing each cast members' strengths-- instead of compete against each other. You are able to have your voice heard (if needed or wanted, or if you have great ideas and ethic) on the corporate level. Much to celebrate at Sephora. Gratis is always a win, and the discount is better than no discount!

Cons

The pay is not great, not great at all. It's a growing company. Still a "baby" in regards to its life in America. There is still a lot of trial and error (which probably will happen anywhere you go if the company is trying to live!). And because of this, it is sometime difficult to keep up with all the changes.

Pros

the eduation and gratis at sephora is great! paid time off is good too. the training and brands are great.

Cons

company can be shady. at the end of the day its still retail. you can break your neck for the company, and they wont value that. Pay could be better. I worked at a B volume store and got paid more than i do at an A volume that makes way more money. sad

Pros

I am honestly finding it most difficult to find positives about Sephora employment. It just may only be the discount, but even that is not all positive. You can get a nice percentage off especially in 'holiday season' but a cap of $ amount is small and don't even think you can buy your mom a special present with your discount. It's for personal use only and they stress that heavily.

Cons

Poor employee relations, if you want to feel like an insignificant laborer this would be the place. Terrible pay and even worse benefits. Try working 12, 22 10 hr days in a row. Oh, but now the cap is 12 days. And they think we should be grateful, pathetic. They say 'work life balance' is one of their values. That is only true if your definition of balance is out of balance. For example, schedules change, overtime is last minute and mandatory which is business except that no effort is given to be proactive. They very often know when spikes in volume are expected but will wait until the last minute to communicate. Never could figure out if it was malicious or just really really poor management.
