Pros

The free coke machine, foosball table, and ping pong table were nice. Oh, and I enjoyed the standing desks and lower frequency of meetings.

Cons

Some senior developers are stuck in the past. They want to embed JSTL code deep within .TAG within .TAG within .TAG for no apparent reason. If it's not being re-used, why not just code everything in the .JST? It made no sense and when I went against the standard I was talked poorly about behind my back to anyone with an ear. Eventually enough ears took notice and I was released from my position due to "lack of work". They did not once approach me to discuss any areas of improvement -- after speaking to another employee, he told me he was "scared to be fired every single day" -- which is a sentiment I heard often, especially after they lay off groups of 4-5 people at a time every few months. There's absolutely no job security with Sharecare and the management staff does nothing to help cultivate the behavior they want to see within their own team.

Pros

* Great people, especially those with boots on the ground. Everyone is passionate about the product and cares about their jobs. * Lots of morale-boosting activities and other perks (free healthy drinks, swag, corporate outings, parties). * Flexible shifts and telecommuting policy for many employees. * Office is convenient to mass transit. * Pay is more than fair, and the benefits package is comprehensive. * Employees receive cost-of-living increases. * Very transparent C-level leadership; if something big is happening, the entire company is kept informed.

Cons

* PTO didn't start rolling over until 2015, and there's not enough of it. * Company moves VERY quickly, often sacrificing work on one project for work on another. * If you're not in shape, the constant pressure to live a healthy life can be daunting. * There's an expectation of being available 24/7. * Extremely informal environment in much of the written communication, which can be off-putting and hard to navigate for some. * Not a lot of upward mobility, other than in title only.

Pros

Nice managers and co-workers and they offer an NBHWC exam training program as part of new hire training.

Cons

Call center type environment (the computer system placed all outbound calls and we also took inbound calls - one day I handled over 400 calls which included successful coaching calls as well as other call types), Did not require a minimum session length of 20 minutes per session (that's the NBHWC standard, as their job training staff informed my training class, lol), required KPI for down-time after a successful coaching call was 5 minutes maximum - that included putting in our coaching note - so very little to no time to use the restroom, make sure we're in the "coaching mindset" for our next session, or recover from a difficult call. We were also required to either work multiple coaching contracts OR serve in a dual role being a coach as well as a member services representative (we did not get to choose and they made the choice randomly as far as I know). In short, it was a nightmare job except for the fact that every person I interacted with there was very nice, with only one exception. Regarding their NBHWC exam training: either this company didn't follow the training program curriculum they presented to the NBHWC, or the NBHWC is approving substandard training programs. What a mess. I had tech issues with their systems over and over and over when trying to one program they used and many of my co-workers confirmed that they also had tech issues frequently, even though I was told the issues I experienced were out of the norm by IT and my manager. Benefits were not good. IT was outsourced to another country, except for the head of IT who was unpleasant to deal with -unprofessional and condescending. I had another coaching job that paid the same, however their benefits were amazing: they paid for 100% of my husband's health, dental, and vision insurance and for majority of those same costs for me. They gave us a quarterly wellness stipend, I believe it was $300 at one point. They paid for our cell phone and internet service. They provided brand new Apple laptops. And their tech worked seamlessly - only had to contact IT one time in the entire time I worked there and it was a very minor issue. Sidenote: Dr. Oz was a co-founder of this company (along with Jeff Arnold, their CEO)
