Avoid at All Costs

Pros

Bonuses. If they still plan to give them... Now that the company is public, they've been cutting all costs, especially when it comes to employee retention.

Cons

There is absolutely no work-life balance. If you have kids, I hope you have a very understanding partner who is ready to be the sole caregiver. You'll be "on call" at all hours. And daily calls with China are expected, helping to stretch the 9-5 workday into something more like 7am-10pm. Back-to-back meetings while also managing my actual massive work load is the norm. My daily schedule is so intense that many days I feel lucky to go to the bathroom or eat lunch. But every week I learn of a new project/requirment/task that has been shifted onto my plate as a product developer to add to the daily frenzy. The culture is one of the most toxic I've ever encountered. Leadership wants you to be "outrageously extraordinary," which is their fun cult language for demanding the impossible. They'll demand downright impossible timelines, but everyone is too terrified to disagree. So we sprint hard every day for a year to create some subpar appliance that goes to production with a myriad of issues that we don't have time to solve. In the end, everyone is so burned out that they stop caring altogether. I've never seen such an incredible level of micromanagement from a CEO before. There is no trust. And although we do so much consumer insights work, one word from Mark and the whole project changes to be what he wants, not what the consumer needs. He could cause months of work to be thrown out the window so that the team has to start from scratch, but STILL maintain the original deadline. This causes so many mistakes, miscommunication, and issues with production that are then blamed squarely on you. This is truly the loneliest place to work. Your schedule is usually all-consuming. There is no time for getting to know coworkers or counterparts, and there is no team bonding, although maybe some trauma bonding. You will be glued to your desk on teams meetings or scrambling to get everything done (which, again, is impossible, but you try desperately anyway). People are too busy to care about you, and eventually, you start to feel the same. When you start to realize you've turned into a person you hate - bitter, angry, judgmental, uncaring, and exhausted - you'll start becoming successful at SharkNinja. But is it worth it?

Pros

* The people in the middle and lower management are some of the most dedicated people I've ever met * You end up bonding with people over the shared misery of working here * Decent perks * The office is very nice, with lots of coffee options, subsidized snacks, etc. * You will never be bored, because there is always a fire that needs to be put out * The people who actually care about the employees - they care deeply * The pay is higher than average and the pay benefits are good * When I was employed here, I truly felt like this was the best place on Earth. This only lasted until the fog was lifted after I left. * From what I have seen, they sponsor work visas for the international employees * If you participate in product testing, you will end up with free products like vacuums, blenders, etc. * The products they make are actually really good and high quality

Cons

* Upper management does not care at all about the employees * They wanted to make new hires leave a mandatory Glassdoor review right as they join to boost the ratings, this is how truly bad the situation is * You could be working for the company for 5 years, contribute to its development, build things from ground up, and you will still be thrown out after asking for a reasonable accommodation * There is constant change in processes, projects, the products being developed * Upper management is micromanaging everyone and everything * Historical company knowledge is not documented, and once the people who hold it leave - it is lost forever * There have been way too many horror stories about the product reviews conducted by the CEO that leave people in tears * Still working at 8pm is the norm here, there is no work-life balance to speak of The whole company is constantly on fire, and while you might thrive in these conditions for a short time, just keep in mind that the company can throw you out without a second thought. They openly do not want to increase retention and go through employees all the time. The situation is slightly different in different departments, and if you are lucky, you might end up in a department of someone who cares deeply and who stands up for their team. These people exist at SharkNinja and they are some of the best people I've ever met. Unfortunately, they are rare gems and exceptions to the rule. Overall, be cautious and don't have your hopes up. Also believe everything you see on here about this company, even though in the interview they will tell you that this is just a bunch of disgruntled employees and bad apples.

Pros

The people are amazing. Really hard working people have been hired to work here. They are friendly and motivated to work. It made coming into work each day really enjoyable. They pay above average...but be ready to work 8-6 at least. Also, we get a lot of free stuff to take home and test.

Cons

The company is very disorganized. When hiring they say they are an "Entrepreneurial" organization....which is a giant insult to anyone who is actually entrepreneurial....because chaos does NOT equate to entrepreneurship. There is absolutely no training and management does not pass information down, leaving people very confused. If you have been at the company for 2 years it is considered very long.....because no one stays that long. Employee morale is very low. It is very common to start working on a project and have it be changed half way through.
