It's a dog eat dog atmosphere for the majority of employee interactions with each other and their superiors.
A lot of favoritism happens.
Most of the time the bosses play the blame game, and trouble rolls downhill, where you wind up thrown under the bus, even if you were not involved at all. Superiors have WAY too much power and employees are helpless to defend themselves, unless they involve their union reps (who are amazing, by the way).
If you do happen to find yourself accused of anything wrong (again, even if you weren't even involved), superiors refuse to tell you who your accuser is, and counsel you to NOT SAY A WORD about your reprimanding to ANY of your co-workers.
Superiors also "advise" you that if you want to possibly promote, there are some employees you should steer clear of (those that are brave enough to call BS on things because they don't fear retaliation).
There is very little true leadership; mostly just bosses bossing people around and not leading by example.
The 2023 BOS are ANTI-EMPLOYEE and are tearing the County departments to shreds.
