Pros

Good exposure to different aspects of business, telemarketing, stalking competitors, product kmowledge, customer service skill advancement, sales, teamwork, and multitasking.

Cons

Long shift hours No schedule flexibility If your a single parent, forget about needing to leave and tend to your kids, your in a male dominated industry and they expect you to have other people raising your kids so you can slave away and miss out on precious time. Chemical exposure Bad environment- no accommodations, back braces, face masks, safety glasses when dealing with harsh odors, chemicals, and lifting all they want you to lift. Merit increases are small and you don't get bonuses unless you are management. No respect from coworkers who are high school kids, and management does nothing to promote enthusiasm and encouragement in the workplace. If your pregnant, or are a woman of child bearing age, AVOID THIS COMPANY. High discrimination and terrible HR department. They will treat you as a liability and force you to leave or get terminated unfairly.

Horrible morale

Pros

Flexible schedule in the floorcovering side. Mon-Fri 7-5 are the hours.

Cons

The amount of negative behavior in the store in unbelievable and the DM allows it to continue happening. The salesman in our store only works about 4 hours per day while not being held accountable to the store manager, but by the sales manager which is 4 hours away. Sales are low (as they should be in our local area), yet we are being pushed to drop our margins (which is fine) but then after the 1st sale, raise them back to normal levels hoping the customer doesn't find out. There is not trust. Complaints made to the DM are then said back to the store manager and who filed the complaint making for a very uncomfortable situation. Upper management doesn't listen to the ground level employees. The computer system is 1982 Firefox and doesn't work worth a darn. The company uses satellite system instead of DSL. So when it's raining outside, forget working. There is no windows based system to be had. Unreasonable expectations from the DM to the store on what is needed. Goals are to be based on previous year sales, but that isn't happening and when calling them on it, they say that is what they expect and nothing less. What employee discount there is, is still more expensive than going to the other major big box industrial stores.

Pros

-More overtime than any normal person would ever want available. -Everybody at the Sierra-DSC are great people, it starts to feel like family. -Everybody comes to work with a positive attitude, morale is really high. -You can joke around and tease everyone in management, and they will not get upset. They have a sense of humor. -Excellent training. -Great pay. -Excellent progression. -Great benefits. -Strong safety conscience culture. -Highly competitive culture. -Only been there a year, but the ambitious people seem to move up. Many are content in their current job they have held for decades because of the available overtime. -It says a lot when people who have been there twenty-plus years still come to work with a smile everyday, and there are quite a few of them. The number one thing for me personally is that people take pride in their work. It is invigorating to be on such a great crew. We have a good time at work and still get the job done.

Cons

The only complaint I can think of is the last minute notice mandatory overtime. They sometimes announce it at the beginning of your shift on Friday that you will be working Saturday leaving no time to change plans.
