Pros

Coworkers, customers, benefits, tools & resources available

Cons

Poor management selection (embarrassing actually) & promotion strategies, Feelings of being undervalued & unappreciated, Technology, Micromanaging, Unrealistic expectations, Unethical practices with employees & customers, & the disconnect from what SW touts to potential new hires about culture, family, etc, and how it really is. BIG WARNING: If you want to move up in this company, prepare to MOVE & BE SINGLE (or you will become single). ALL NEWLY PROMOTED PEOPLE ARE SINGLE WITHOUT FAMILIES. SW DOES NOT ALLOW PROPER WORK-LIFE BALANCE, ALTHOUGH THEY'LL CERTAINLY TELL YOU HOW IMPORTANT FAMILY IS. It's the SW dirty little secret!

Pros

I have worked in many different states and have met a lot of great people. The relationships with my co-workers are what keep me with the company.

Cons

Although my sales are up over 30% this year I am still micromanaged to the point where I can't even choose who will work the weekends. I have been told to increase sales and gallons, but when I do I receive nasty e-mails about my margins being down. I have been told to reduce my hours even though my sales are up and we are extending hours. My assistant can't keep up with the work load so I have to pick up the slack and work long hours. Three assistants in our district have quit in the last month because of the poor work conditions. Our district manager has no sense of the horrible customer service that is being given because we simply don't have the energy and our moral has been beaten into the ground by all the initiatives and condescending e-mails that come every week. Every lower level manager I have talked to feels the same way and I have talked to lots of them.

Pros

Steady Work. Company hasn't laid off employees, even during the economic down turn. Good experience in learning the operations of managing a business. You get what you put into it. Spanish speaking skills is a big boost for greater potential business. Many resources to improve your knowledge on executing different tasks.

Cons

Cut-Throat business to work in as it is all about price margins with the competition if you want a painter's business. You have many administrative duties that have to be done regardless how busy it can get, if not - you're staying after hours to do so. If a management trainee, you have to go to an assigned store at the end of training (2-3 months) - myself and the previous 2 trainees have been assigned 75 miles away from our home area. You're told it can happen, but you always hope it won't be you.
