Pros

Driver's wages are higher here than elsewhere. Able to be home weekly, if not twice a week. New equipment is repaired and maintained on a timely basis. Able to actually plan for retirement. Pay is direct deposit and NEVER a bounced check! The trucking industry is full of slow to pay and low paying companies. This is not a trucking company. It is a paint company that has it's own trucks.

Cons

Bureaucracy tends to slow progress in the company. Problems show up and can take 9-12 months to be addressed. During the busy, summer season your weekend can be as little as 34 hours off. (I would rather be busy than not in this economy.) Most of my concerns I can live with and do not interfere with my day to day job functions. I do not recommend this job to anyone without explaining EXACTLY what is involved.

Pros

Downtime when not inundated with customers Ok pay for a part-time job

Cons

Sherwin Williams is obviously very desperate these days so they see the need to have these ridiculous 30-40% off sales constantly. Our store is short-staffed usually, which makes for a nightmare of a time. Corporate is completely out of touch. Our City Manager is a moron who sees the need to have to interview a part-timer (which we desperately need) who should have been hired a month ago. Since then a few employees left and we're left holding the bag. The pay is horrible for what you're asked to do especially when you're thrown to the wolves during these nightmare sales. If you work there get ready for horrible weekends in the summer because it's just too busy to even enjoy working there. Corporate is clueless when it comes to selling Duration paint. It's way overpriced and quite obvious why they need to give it away every other week in these sales and promotions. Otherwise they can't sell it. For myself it's a part-time job on the weekends, but I don't see myself staying very long because it's becoming more and more of a stressed-out and hectic environment. It's way too hectic for $9.60 an hour.

Pros

Loved working with the contractors and there was always something to be done. I was considered part time and was able to finish college while working for sw.

Cons

The amount of work required to be done by part timers. I was a third key holder so i would end up working the counter, answering the phone and putting up the truck by myself bc our hours kept being extended yet part time hour alotted were decreased. I worked for sw for 4 years and recieved $1.48 raise total over that time. Yet all my reviews were very good until the DM would get his hands on it. Once I did graduate from school i applied for an assistant managers position only to find out a MTP (manager training program) was going to get the job. Great except he had 23 days of experiance and could not be left alone in a store by himself. I was totally ignored by upper management and HR just said well sorry. Later I found out the city manager was telling other sw employees i had told him I was only here until something better came along. A lie. I was very good at the job, and I am so happy it worked out that way bc I would not have found my current job. Love the customers but management is out of touch with the stores. B. Spivey
