Pros

stability works with school sched great for college students dont have to work nights

Cons

-not a lot of advancement for the right reason... more of a "who you know" situation -very bias about hiring (gender and race) -terrible pay for the amount of work expected -similar jobs at home depot or lowes are paid much better but the open stores hours are longer -district managers call all the shots in the stores but are very out of touch with what really is going on in the stores. they dont know names or faces behind large accounts, they visit the store 2-3 times per yr but yet know whats best. They would rather focus on issues that do not matter, such as having a radio on in the back warehouse, rather than why we just lost a customer because sherwin williams just increased their pricing again, or that 2 of 4 paint shakers are broke, or we are very understaffed. -Seriously work somewhere else... or anywhere BUT the Texoma District!

Pros

Friendly customers, the overall process of what you do every day is not veyr complicated.

Cons

If your Management is bad you won't have a good time working here, store management is under very little supervision of anyone. You might see your DM once, maybe twice a year if you live in a rural area.

Pros

-Hard Work is recognized (usually) and promotions are available (store branch) -A Friendly, team orientated workplace* (retail)- *quite dependent upon the manager -Requires Skill and provides training to sharpen/improve skills -401K is offered to part time help (rare these days) -Usually there is no one "breathing down your back" while you complete a job or task (some personal trust based freedom) -Job is generally enjoyable- everyday is something different (very minor monotony).

Cons

Corporate is often VERY out of touch with the retail/store atmosphere- they make decisions and rely upon us to deal with the consequences (e.g. Longer store hours, less staffing permitted; Or during a quarterly Increase in business, a corporate call for reduction of hourly workers time). Can be frustrating. Managers, may have some control over the store but the DM runs the entire operation (for the good and bad). Due to this the ability that the store has to "make deals" with clients and contractors is very limited and constricted. Which causes frustration on both sides of the counter.
