Pros

Pretty competitive pay and decent benefits.

Cons

Ask way too much of their employees without giving them the staff they need to accomplish anything. Care nothing about the tenure of their employees. They have an "if you don't like it, quit" attitude bc they know they can hire someone new and pay them less. They don't really give raises at all anymore. Work 10.5 hour shifts every Saturday with no lunch break bc we only have enough employees to work two people and we are usually too busy to eat. Extended store hours but will not give you any more employees or key holders to compensate. Think that they can compete with lowes and Home Depot despite being a specialty store. Cap bonuses even though they are still putting your hard earned money in their pockets. They tell you to increase sales one day and then the next day, that's not good enough bc you didn't increase sales. Recently heard of someone getting promoted to full time but having their hourly rate cut bc sherwin didn't want to pay them more annually. Took away full time bonuses so now it is really hard to motivate employees to work hard. Even if they get promoted the raise will be marginal. I've never loved this job but now I hate it so much that I don't want to get out of bed in the mornings. They force tenured employees out if they refuse to be yes men so that every one in upper management is just a corporate puppet. Basically turning management t employees into telemarketers by having them do 50+ cold calls a week on top of answering phone calls, unloading trucks, doing paperwork, helping customes, etc etc etc. I'm lucky if I get 15 minutes to eat my lunch during a week day. I am so exhausted every day after work that i have no social life. not to mention, I have worked pretty much every weekend and every holiday for the last 4 years. Do you think people are buying paint Christmas Eve or the on July 4? No they're not but they can bc we have to be there so that sherwin Williams can squeeze every last penny out of people. I am newly married and everyone is asking me about kids but i can't imagine having to juggle kids and this job. There are days i go in at 630 am and dont leave until 730 pm. No daycares are open those hours and my husband also works in retail. Ive heard stories about how the company used to care about and value their employees but those days are long gone.

Pros

Good, hard working employees. Great benefits.

Cons

I work at Sherwin-Williams. There was a time where--though I may not have enjoyed my job--I could at least say I was proud to work at S-W. No longer. My district is a joke. I have to do what they call "Seal Island" every week. Oooooo, I'm supposed to feel like I'm a great white shark hunting for seal. No, I feel like a stupid idiot walking around a Home Depot parking lot begging painters for business. What happened to this company? Where's the class? Oh, and let's not forget the days where I'm told to tail a competitor's delivery truck like I'm in some crappy, lame spy movie. It gets really embarrassing, too, when the driver notices I'm following him and we then proceed to have the world's most unexciting and pathetic car chase. This is so ridiculous. I should be in my store, managing my store. You know what else I love? I love trying to sell mid-grade level paint to a DIY for 50 dollars per gallon. When they look at me completely astonished, I'm supposed to say, "Oh, don't worry, we can set you up a preferred account and you'll get 10% off..... 10% off of 50 dollars.... so you'll only have to pay 45 dollars... WHAT A DEAL!!! I love getting stared at like I have horns. I'm so embarrassed by this company now, that when someone at a dinner party asks me where I work, I say: "Oh, I work at Sherwin and Williams. Attorneys at law." They're impressed for a moment, and I quickly say: "Yeah, no big deal, anyways, have you seen the Avengers?"

Pros

Relationships with friendly customers/contractors Supportive City Manager Clean store Friendly coworkers High room for growth due to high turnover Salary

Cons

Literally everything else! You literally live, breathe, and sleep this job. You will have no work/life balance because every single store is understaffed... They had me working 11/12 hour days 7 days in a row with a one day break and then working nonstop another 9 days... with very little to no appreciation. this is not uncommon Every other day you want to bang yourself on the head and jump off a bridge, a lot of customers have no empathy and will disrespect you every single day. You don't even get any time to take a break because its so understaffed and when you do... you feel bad for leaving your coworker alone. Management was lazy and expected the MTP (me) work more than management (even tho I don't get bonus'd from working my butt off for their store). Corporate doesn't care... they're so greedy that they clearly see the employees drowning and they don't do anything to alleviate the pain. I deeply regreted accepting this job... Worst decision of my life. Word of advice: You deserve better, take your hard work somewhere else. PLEASE
