Pros

Only if you are starting from the Manager in Training Program do you get the best out of Sherwin Williams.

Cons

Starting off from the bottom the pay is pretty mediocre. Most of your pay is gone by the time taxes and your insurance kicks in.

Pros

Good pay Nice managers Good hours, most stores close at 7 Customer relationships over time Learn a lot Feel like you're part of something important

Cons

Scheduling: you will be working by yourself much of the time. In fact, all of the time. Upper mgmt sees no problem with this. Hours: with part-time, they can promise you the world but when it comes down to it, if budget is not met it affects you directly in that your hours will be severely cut. No scheduled breaks: if you're busy, you're busy. Sometimes no time to eat or go to the bathroom. Picking colors: you have to no matter what position you hold. Fun, mostly, except if you're alone in the store and four people come in at once and you're in the middle of helping someone with this. Then it becomes a huge headache. Cold-Calling: Personally, I don't mind doing this since I've been in sales for a long time, but I would imagine someone new would not be comfortable at all with this. This is expected of everyone to do no matter what your position is. Growth: Difficult because they would rather hire people fresh out of college for their MTP program instead of promoting a part-timer or third key holder. I've seen much movement in the company because of this which is not necessarily a good thing.

Pros

Great place to learn skills, Great place to advance a career (If you have a 4 year degree, that is), Work environment is generally good. Schedule is really flexible depending on your store, fantastic if you like to move around.

Cons

There are not enough employees at larger stores. I am not in management but most of the hours I work are spent alone with no assistance. When it gets busy, customers get angry because they have to wait and leave. Not good business. Pressure from corporate ties the hands of the store management. Corporate is really out of touch with what goes on in the stores.
