Pros

Great benefits, good bonus structure, you don't need to know anything to start with the company, great starting job for college graduates, overtime (unless you're salaried), 401k match

Cons

Long hours, no work/life balance, no real compensation for managers if they exceed their hours, huge push during slow seasons, and lead generation. There seems to be an ongoing retention issue and hiring part time help is like pulling teeth. All the stores seem to be understaffed - typically having a staff of four (manager, assistant, two part timers) for a 1.5m store. Assistants typically work 44hrs a week and Managers are 48, but they are expected to work more. There's limited help from upper management. There have been whole months I've worked 52 - 60hrs a week, no overtime, and upper management never followed up with help despite multiple discussions. Possibly the boss I had at the moment but it seemed they were hoping they could hold off until the situation resolved itself while I burned out.

Pros

Good people and learn a lot about business operations

Cons

Sherwin Williams is a large company and that was attractive to me as a college grad and upper management preaches that it’s mostly internal growth. So I came in as an MTP and put in my time in hopes to eventually get a corporate job. No. Once you start on the retail side it’s basically impossible to go corporate and the select few that do end up doing soft skill positions such as recruiting or HR. You are pigeon held in the retail sales field and once I finally realized that I left. So don’t let them fool you by saying you have a chance at corporate because you really don’t if you come in as an MTP.

Pros

Vast array of products to sell to customers.

Cons

When SW purchased Valspar, everything became worse as an employee. Made us start to pay for company vehicle without an offset in pay. Health Insurance is bad for the premiums. Tightened the amount of information you could get. The sales cycle became extremely long, so many more hurdles and red tape.
