Pros

-For a job that requires little to no experience, it pays above minimum wage -Some managers (like mine) are very good to their staff -Generally strong bonds between co-workers -The work itself is easy enough to pick up as long as you are somewhat physically fit

Cons

-Stores are chronically understaffed, if any one employee misses their shift their co-workers are then overworked -Internally, stores are constantly made to compete with each other's sales margins, leading to problems such as false reporting -No benefits, sick days, or vacation time whatsoever for part-time employees, no matter how long they have been with the company -Lack of proper product training, I was made to help customers way before I knew enough to do so when first starting, resulting in errors that costed customers time -Lack of safety protocol enforcement. We are taught the proper things but in my experience more senior employees often went around proper safety procedures (when lifting, loading, bringing kids into the warehouse, etc.) and would pressure newer hires to do the same -The corporate side of the company is so obsessed with profit margins and specifically the unrealistic growth of these margins that employees are constantly pressured and told they are not selling enough, I felt I had to disproportionately value new customers over existing customers, all in service of winning internal contests that only management benefits from -Some managers blatantly verbally abuse their staff (I have witnessed this twice in almost two years working part-time, at two different locations I covered shifts at where this was seen as common) -Lots of racist and transphobic banter between employees that is not stopped by management -Lots of very rude (and often misogynistic) customers
