Pros

Management leave you alone (sometimes) and you get to work with other employees who are equally as frustrated as you are. But when you are surrounded by other employees who have great personalities, the job can be fun.

Cons

I worked here as a sales associate selling basic cosmetics for approximately 4-5 months. The training itself was very helpful - I learned a lot of information that I needed to know in order to sell the product. One day was dedicated to training, another dedicated to having an experience manager with you on the job so you can shadow her, and learning from other employees. But overall this was a horrible experience because this Shiseido chain located all over New York and New Jersey is called "Damoa Shiseido" and the owner is quite honestly, horrible. She treats employees like slaves and hovers over them all the time. The pay is lousy and the amount of mental harassment I received from the owner was not worth the trouble of holding onto this job.

Pros

• Company with generally good benefits. • Many learning opportunities are offered if you find time to use them • 40% off all products for employees except Hermes

Cons

• Out of date employee review system • No process in place between departments. i.e. marketing, creative, and procurement don't have proper process in place. as result, employees are forced to do many different tasks and often overworked • Poor overall HR system and HR management • Poor Procurement department • No creative operations department in place • No copywriting department in place • Many higher up executives are extremely stressed and as result stress out their teams • There has been instances where employees were treated in an unfair and disrespectful manner • There has been instances where employees have faced racism – especially from HQ partners in Tokyo • There is good PTO for the year but it is very hard to get PTO requests approved, as result employees lose +10 PTO days/year • Many managers don't seem to be in the right place or lack basic knowledge or skillsets required for their positions, even at the VP level
