Pros
There is a big culture of learning and self-development at Shopify. Everyone is encouraged to learn new skills and technologies and there is a whole area of the company dedicated to coaching - want to get better at leading people? There's a coach for that.
When I started I didn't know Ruby, Rails, React, or really any of the primary technologies that Shopify uses. I was a little worried about this. But my first four weeks were dedicated to learning everything I needed to know - free courses, etc. Moreover, the assumption was that it would take me a while to get up to speed. Probably the best onboarding that I've experienced in my nearly 20 yr career.
As someone who would classify themselves as a life-long-learner, Shopify is an amazing employer.
Cons
Things change pretty quickly here. If you like predictable, Shopify may not be for you.
