Pros

You get to delve inside the newest build of Houdini all day and at your own pace learn as much as you want to. You have a lot of freedom to work on projects that you are interested to and everyone at Side Effects is great. Amazing people, a fast computer, and Houdini is just awesome. You learn A LOT at this internship

Cons

There wasn't any cons. It's really up to you on how much you want to get out of your internship. The resources are all there.

Pros

Amazing opportunity to dive into Houdini full time. When I worked there it was just before the release of Houdini 14. So got to work with a lot of new and interesting features. Great chance to collaborate with fellow interns. Houdini is so big, and so many ways to do things we never arrived at the solution the same way and learned a lot from each other.

Cons

None really. The internship is yours to do with what you want. Possibly run into frustrations if you aren't self motivated.

Pros

- Work load is very reasonable and manageable - People are generally very nice - Very team dependent - Would probably be a fun place to intern at - Pay is reasonable for Toronto

Cons

- Lack of team and company communication and direction - You must spend a significant amount of time doing non-programming related tasks - Projects are very segmented so its hard to know what your peers are up to with only one meeting a week - Interns are purposefully set up with more interesting tasks than full-times to lure them in - I found the work to be not challenging enough and uninspiring for career growth
