Pros

Huge network of people. Amazing opportunities in Europe. Pick you division correctly as there is a big difference between Siemens Energy, Healthineers and Mobility. Some thrive in North America like Healthineers while others don't like Energy.

Cons

Financial issues in the Energy division has led to a lot of layoffs and restructuring. It is very similar to what happened to GE recently. Lots of discretion is giving to your manager, so under-performers stay if they are close to their boss while the opposite is unfortunately true as well. Such a large company that unless you did an internship rotation, the on-boarding typically is near nothing and you won't learn about the rest of the company without lots of pain. Siemens does a poor job of informing you. Yammer is just verbal diarrhea.

Pros

Fulfilling work with tangible results. Good pay and benefits package. Working from home is awesome as long as you are a self disciplined person. Travel opportunities are amazing.

Cons

The trade off for working from home is the required travel which can be burdensome to continuity in a stable family life, so it requires everyone to be on board and help out.

Pros

- Low level managers were mostly very civil, respectful, and effective in the scope that they were allowed to work in - They start you out at a competitive pay level

Cons

- IT was so bad you spent 10 to 20 % of your time calling IT to get their help undoing the damage to your software which occurs EVERY time they send out updates to you computer - The managers you see every day have very little authority to change the things that bug you. Most decisions are made 4 levels of management up the chain by managers you have no access to. - The works is split up in little tiny pieces between numerous departments that don't communicate with each other well, aren't effectively managed as a cohesive unit, and usually work mostly to accomplish their own internal goals not the most important goals that must be met by the company to be competitive and effective in the market. - Raises are small and eventually you'll make less than your counterparts at other companies if you stay for 10 or 20 years.
