Too big. Too fast.

Pros

Sales is the only department that makes money. Yet it's the main department that everyone hates. You'll make lots of money. But is it worth it?

Cons

No training. No support in manageable forms from Corporate. Corporate wants everything to be the same at every station. News is created and canned. Sent out to all the stations. Sales is told to sell stuff even if it's bad for the client. Bad culture. Bad management. People are allowed to stay at stations who never work. While others work overtime with zero notice. Bad place to work.

Pros

Some good immediate coworkers. Health care premiums not based on salary tiers and affordable, if you make at least $50k. If you are desperate for work in this ever contracting business, it offers a paycheck.

Cons

Brown nosing rewarded better than competence. Too many non-editorial people making editorial decisions. I have witnessed bad reporting and journalism firsthand. Management reluctant to rid departments of bad people. They would rather deal with replacing competent workers who get fed up and quit instead of dealing with the one subpar worker cited as the reason for departures. My department of 8 lost half its workers and still the bad employee is going strong. Horrible benefits for major metropolitan areas. 90 day probation before benefits kick in. Low pay plus minimal 2 weeks vacation and 5 sick days is a recipe for disaster in this overworked environment. 401k match and raises are measly. I fear, with SBG's growth, other media companies will follow suit. Oh and there's the sexist, racist, right wing agenda.
