Pros

Bonuses during a pandemic, stations all over the country so easy to transfer wherever you want to go

Cons

Micromanagers, "must runs" in the broadcasts, dictating the kind of stories reporter do, constant "trainings" that are really just busy work, sketchy hiring practices, don't value employees, terrible pay

Pros

The problems are big, the team is lean, all work is highly visible

Cons

The workplace has devolved from a meritocratic and engineering-led digital services operation to a dysfunctional bureaucracy. Women are not respected, minority voices are marginalized, only the circle of yes-men at the top are involved in decision-making. All emphasis has shifted to reporting on lateness rather than on-time delivery. All the projects slip their deadlines and the solution is always to plan more up front, outsource, hire more managers/directors, and remove engineers from the process.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We take all allegations of misogyny, and racism very seriously and are very interested in speaking with you further about your experiences. Sinclair has strong policies prohibiting such behavior. We are also concerned with your description of management and senior leadership. At Sinclair, we truly want our employees to have as positive an experience as possible. Please reach out to employment@sbgtv.com to discuss the specific details of your observations.

It’s an ok first job

Pros

If your fresh out of college they give you a chance. Let’s you have something for your resume and since you end up doing more than what is in your job description you can get skills in a lot of areas.

Cons

No pay raise opportunities you basically have to move up to another position but those are few. They talk about upward mobility but realistically you can just move to another station where they barely pay you the cost of living at a new town. May seem like more money but realistically is not.
