Stay away if you're an Engineer in Mountain View

Pros

Lower level people are perfectly nice

Cons

Engineering executives spend 99.9% of their time talking and 0.1% of their time listening. Not how any good development team & company is managed. Plus, SmartThings is coming apart piece by piece into different parts of Samsung. Mountain View compensation is very poor, as well.

Pros

- Really intelligent, talented, and compassionate employees. - Can learn a lot from coworkers with varied skills and backgrounds. - Great compensation and benefits. - Cool offices and locations. - Nice office supplies and technology. - Snacks and office tournaments. - Exciting and growing IoT market space.

Cons

- Significant staff reduction that effected many areas of the company – this not only had a big effect on morale but also didn't seem to make a lot of sense due to the loss of skill-set and knowledge across many areas of the company. - Executive leadership is very reactionary. - Problems in a project can be brought up early on to executive leaders in the company and they'll go unchecked or ignored for months, until the very last minute, only to be fixed by extreme reactions. This makes for long grueling projects that only end in sleepless nights to hit the deadline. - Executive leadership promises that production won't be lead by arbitrary deadlines, yet it continues to happen again and again. - New products and initiatives are pushed forward when the company can't support what currently exists. - Limited career growth.
