Pros

Autonomy in my working environment, great resources and reputation

Cons

Not many benefits, no W-2 forms so taxes are a mess, a lot of bureaucracy and red tape

Pros

Interns are given many responsibilities and are treated like important members of the team; lots of exposure to various OIR projects and events; friendly office staff

Cons

Unpaid internship, but did receive one-time transportation stipend

Pros

Nice and friendly community to work with, helpful supervisors, good hours, ability to work with other Smithsonian Institutions was a plus

Cons

It’s the government so projects and approval move slow and there’s not much expectation to get things done quickly, generally working on the same project at one time
