      Pros

      Good pay; job security mainly due to union; training

      Cons

      High stress, little support, demanding, environment with high level of hostility - from customers as well as the company's upper management; direct supervisor is really just your file keeper & liason - in reality, company/employee relations are very poor. Witnessed one too many colleagues being taken out of the call center on stretchers. Yes, really.

      Pros

      No company is perfect. This company is the best of the Sempra family of companies, and beats most other companies hands down. Lots of freedom to provide input and make decisions that move projects forward. Leadership places a lot of trust in employees to "do the right thing." Your work is not micromanaged. Company provides lost of training to develop and retain employees.

      Cons

      Some employees never had a "real career job" before coming to SoCalGas. These employees have no prospective and do not know how fortunate they are to be working for a great company. Some of them complain but they do not know what they are talking about. The work/life balance needs work. Working a lot of hours is routine.

      This company really cares about it's employees and the community.

      Cons

      It's a utility so its not really open for "creativity". Just pretty much do what you're told 40 hours a week. Sometimes that's good though. Low stress.
