"Boys Club" and corporate culture

Pros

SoFi has business direction, and solid plans to take out competition. If any Fintech company will make it big, SoFi will. Though recently there was talk of layoffs and the business performance in Q1 affecting hiring, so maybe not.

Cons

Don't expect to be allowed work-life balance by senior management at SoFi. Most of the team works 9+ hours a day, with meetings frequently scheduled at 5pm or later. There's also a distinct "boys club" culture, especially within the Capital Markets team. Many of the employees are older white men who worked in finance previously and they've brought the Wall Street culture with them to SoFi. The company calls itself a startup but the term only applies in how old SoFi is, in all other aspects it's extremely corporate. The only focus is meeting aggressive business goals, which means that nothing else matters (including employee happiness, company culture, company values, etc.).

losing hope here

Pros

weekly town hall meetings and innovative products

Cons

SoFi doesnt take of it's people. there are no empathy and care among the staff. in meetings, they will tear you down and interrupt you when you challenge their decisions. Many of them have the old school banker personality where their decision is always right. there was barely any communication about the recent layoffs and the leaders didn't address any follow up questions. bad communication plan on the staff. to warn all current employees like myself and new hires- what the executives did was unethical and unjust: changing employee's rating without the manager's consent or knowledge. no one is safe. do not believe what you see on the news. their PR department is great at covering up and masking what is happening behind closed doors.
