I'm generally uncomfortable.

Pros

unlimited hours = unlimited money. Free food and benefits. Great Co workers. Work space is nice. Pay is really fair.

Cons

I always feel like I am one second from being fired. There is NO positive feedback on an individual performance. There is no method for being promoted or getting a raise because you have to be friends with management to move up. From the very top to the directors and managers, management is a mess. Clear favoritism with promotions. I anticipate they will lose a lot of their good people really soon.

Pros

Pay is pretty much it

Cons

Constant gaslighting and performative presentations with no substance. Any attempt to try and do real work or make things better is met with being shut down by management who, above all, don’t want to rock the boat or acknowledge anything that needs to change. Several functional leaders will not speak to each other. Workplace bullying is completely accepted. HR tells you it’s unacceptable but they don’t want to terminate someone despite piles of evidence. I spent more time trying to manage the toxicity in the organization than actually able to do the work I was interested and hired to do. Ultimately I was pushed out of the organization after a very long career of being an overachiever in every other place I’ve worked. If you want to do good work that helps customers and the company, this place won’t allow it.

Return to Office = Scared Leadership

Pros

Brand Marketing SoFi Stadium Variety of banking products

Cons

SoFi's mission is to provide financial services REMOTELY to all of our members. SoFi does not have a single office customers can access for in person access to their money. SoFi is asking them to instead trust in our innovation to build trust online COMPLETELY REMOTE and yet leadership has recently abandoned this mission for employees. Leadership has done an awful job announcing the return to office leaving most employees questioning why. The delivery has been poor, the communication and reasonings given do not make sense. The only sense that can be made of it is that leadership is scared and following industry trends. I did not join SoFi to work for a "trend follower" instead I joined because SoFi was being bold, innovative, and doing something that has never been done before. I bought into the idea that SoFi was going to change the way the banking system worked. And now SoFi is becoming just like every other bank (except still without offices for customers). There are 5 different main office branches spread out across the US and I work with team members who are hired out of different sites. Even though the majority of my team will not be in the same office I go to, I am still required to go to an office? So I can sit at a desk by myself, and work by myself? And waste 6 hours a week of commuting to do this? For what? SoFi is scared, back pedaling, and getting desperate. Leadership has abandoned their mission of remote banking.

We sincerely appreciate your feedback, thanks for taking the time to leave such a comprehensive review of your experience and feelings around our return to work policy. Across industries, employees have been asked to return to the office to further drive connection, collaboration, and build culture. SoFi is no different - we see value in bringing our employees together. Compared to other companies, we feel our return to office policy is quite flexible and less structured (for example, we do not ask leaders to track attendance), and that is intentional and ties to our overall flexible approach to work. While each business unit has a slightly different approach, in general we are asking employees to come into the office 4 times a month. That said, we understand where you are coming from and would welcome the opportunity to continue this conversation so we can address your concerns directly. Feel free to reach out to me (on the talent team) at glassdoor@sofi.org or speak with your People Business Partner. We really appreciate the feedback and encourage you to continue to share. Thanks for being on this journey with us, take care.
