Don’t do it

Pros

Pay is sort of fair? If you know to negotiate. They will lowball you, so be prepared to ask for more. Other SoFi departments seemed to be much better organized and were joys to work with.

Cons

Terrible middle management in fraud department. Lack of communication. Unprofessional meetings that are a waste of time. Returning to Office for “culture”. Completely unrealistic production standards that can only be met by sacrificing quality which costs millions of dollars and allows for ID theft. I regularly had to make calls that I knew were bad because we weren’t allowed time to properly do research. The company wouldn’t even pay for a backup IP search tool and we were stuck using whatever we could find on the internet. In the last year, SoFi seemed to be moving backwards in terms of progress and job quality. Not forwards. RTO, removal of development opportunities, lower raises, downsizing, etc all makes the company seem less like a FinTech and more like it was trying to be a bank. Which it didn’t know how to do yet.

Pros

The benefits are really some of the best that you could ever hope for. Being able to be remote was also really nice. If you are a minority you have a voice.

Cons

They have same toxic culture that has been here for years. It is very clique and there is a lot of nepotism at the company, and so it's not a place that you can have a career path. Anthony Noto talks about having the best culture, but it is one of the worst places where the leadership team gets away with outrageous behavior. The only reason the Glassdoor score is not lower is that HR is asking all the new hires to leave good reviews right when you get a shirt and crappy swag when you join. There was real potential when I joined a long time ago, but not with the current leadership team.

Hi - We appreciate you taking the time to share your candid feedback with us. We are disappointed to hear you did not feel the culture at SoFi was always inclusive, and that your experience with leadership did not meet your expectations. As one of our core values is embracing diversity, we're committed to ensuring everyone feels welcome, included, and able to contribute at all levels. To be clear, we never ask employees to leave positive reviews on Glassdoor. We do, however, ask new hires to share their interview experience so we can ensure we're able to deliver a best-in-class candidate experience. These interview reviews do not impact our overall company ratings. Your feedback around retaliation and toxicity is not reflective of the culture we are striving for, and it's important that we learn more so we can address it directly. If you're comfortable, we'd encourage you to reach out to glassdoor@sofi.org so we can discuss further. We care deeply about our employees, and feedback like yours will only help us continue to grow. Thank you, Ana
