Pros

There is some work-life balance, except that the majority of attorneys use personal leave to keep production up.

Cons

Production requirements are unreasonable and insane. Component is led by non-attorney administrator types who care little about “decision writers” and know little about what attorneys do or should be doing. Pay is very low. Extremely unprofessional work environment.

Pros

You get to exercise your critical thinking and analytical muscle. The pay, benefits and job security are good compared to the alternatives. Plus there is a union to protect you.

Cons

You work with people who are content just coasting by. If you are conscientious and want to help people, this is very annoying.
