Pros

Great job security. Good salary GS 12 is 76K I think. You get to work at home 3 days out of the week. There a bunch of overtime to supplement your base salary which is probably an extra 25K per year if you work it all. You get your student loans paid for if you sign up and have loans after 2008 and work there for 10 years.

Cons

Slow promo to 13 competitive. You have to work with non attorneys who hate you. You are micro-managed by non-attys who don't know anything and who btw hate you as well. A lot of the adjudicators at GS-14 "Appeals officers" are competing for Judge positions and are increasingly ridiculous and couldn't adjudicate themselves out of a paper bag. You are not treated like an attorney. You sit in a cubicle. Your work is cookie cutter work. Your work is production based which means that you required to meet work quotas which are ridiculous.
