Pros

A very great learning experience out of college. Great environment. You work among friends. Chance to work in the US for a few years, build international credentials and get familiar with other work cultures. Learn for a few years, then move on! All other companies will pay fairly and more after you have grown in experience. Softtek is a company that offers very cheap "near-shore" labor, but also cheap onsite labor by paying employees in the US according to the Mexican market, which translates into very low compensation compared to the IT industry.

Cons

***Sometimes they don't pay on time!!! Very low salary (just see the salaries they offer here in Glassdoor, a McDonald's manager makes more than a software project delivery manager in Softtek). No performance bonus. Plus, you can get excellent reviews, yet don't get an increase in two or even three years. Nominal benefits: No 401k match, 12 PTO days for the first 5 years, health insurance with high copay and not covering family. Employee has to pay himself for work visa and for visas for his family. Nominal relocation stipend that is virtually useless. No vision care. Discounted dental insurance only.

Pros

Flexibility on terms of time schedules.

Cons

Bad leadership. The managers hand you a heavy load work and still expect you to do more, one person getting done the work of many others and they also demand you get done with the stupid courses and other processes the company has in place. Penny pinching company, if they can save a buck they will do it, even with the most ridiculous things, like office supplies and such. This company makes their money out of reducing costs, every time they get a project they will try to send work to Mexico, China or India so you can't really expect to have a long career here. There's no training, how can you have time to learn anything if you're slammed and swamped with a lot of work?. Managers only care about the project profits because they make bonuses out of them. They don't give a damn about the employees when it comes down to profits for the company, simply because they get a cut of them as well.

Pros

Solid benefits. Softtek partners with large companies for large projects. Salary is reasonable but not fantastic.

Cons

Leadership and management is very, very cheap so if you are in the USA and a citizen, you can expect that you will replaced by cheaper Mexican or Indian workers in time. They gain contracts with large companies using US technicians and then keep projects going by reducing their costs each year replacing US technicians with off shore technicians at every opportunity. If you are a US technician hired by them, expect to be given about 2 months to train your replacement when contracts come for renewal with their client.
