Pros

Great training and instruction Awesome office culture Management that only wants to see their employees succeed - and works diligently with those who want to put the work in. This is a company that will do everything they can to ensure that their employees are in the right place for success. I would recommend Softworld, and do, to anyone looking for a new opportunity.

Cons

Commute home has a lot of traffic - takes me a whole 10 minutes.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and we appreciate your continued recommendations. That commute home sounds terrible - maybe taking a pogo stick home would mitigate traffic?

Pros

For internal sales and recruiting professionals, a mix of consistently high and above board/no surprises expectations, blended with an adaptable approach to meet them based on individualized levels of experience and skill. Plenty of training, tools and technology, all of which combine to prevent the company from getting in your way of succeeding. Any sales person or recruiter knows that feeling. Minimizes a lot of the unrelated busy work that takes you away from your core job function- in- and out-sourced resources to handle timesheets, billing, administrative, resume formatting, etc. Filled from top to bottom with people who are passionate, gritty, fast and who largely care more about holding themselves to higher standards than they need from anyone else. For the hundreds of external consultants that work for us, and the thousands that engage with us, you are in the hands of a company that tries to do things the right way throughout every aspect of your experience with us. When that falls short, on something as important as your career (and that absolutely happens - the company isn’t perfect, and a lot of internal people know about it when we fail), our best efforts are expected to correct mistakes, to whatever extent is within our (and not an external client’s) power. The company, and the people in it, don’t bat 1000 - but a lot of people work really hard to try.

Cons

We’re not immune to cons common to both our industry, and characteristic of any company that grows as fast as we do - communication could always be better, and sometimes hyper growth can lead to unintended consequences and mistaken assumptions that everybody interprets things identically.

Pros

The hourly rate for IT contractors are competitive, but this will cause you to get used, abused, and discarded quickly.

Cons

Management at the client have openly stated multiple times that they “hate” Softworld. All 6 Softworld contractors, including me, were laid off at the same time. All other consultants from other companies stayed on, even though many of those consultants were not as competent. Although Softworld consultants constantly received praise for the quality of work that we delivered, we were abruptly let go because of some sort of feud between the two companies. Softworld makes a fortune off of you, relative to other staffing vendors. I saw my bill rate to the client’s project and it was about $30/hour over my pay rate. That means they are making about $60k/year from my work just for writing me paychecks. The benefits are nonexistent. No PTO/vacation/sick days/holidays, 401k matching, or expense reimbursement. The health insurance they offer is pretty pathetic and we’d have to pay almost $600/month for minimal coverage. I’ve approached Softworld’s management to inquire about why they’re getting hate and why they take such a huge cut of our pay and they just play dumb with us. They also played ignorant when I asked them about the wave of layoffs. It’s pretty insulting.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide detailed and candid feedback. Softworld strives to create a positive impression with every single person that we employ; we greatly regret that your experience was as negative as described above. There are times in our industry when clients make strategic structural shifts in relationships with their vendors. This can impact consultants and employees at all levels, including some of our top talent. That said, we absolutely understand the frustration of your role being a part of a transition such as this. In regards to our benefit and employment selection, Softworld is proud to offer numerous options for our consultants and their families based on their individual situations and needs. These choices can include Staff Consulting (allowing the chance to accumulate time off), Cadillac and more basic health coverage effective Day 1 of a Contract and 401k contributions Day 1, with company match following 1 year of service. We strongly encourage all potential consultants to have open and frank discussions with their Softworld Recruiters regarding what financial, benefit and employment options make the most sense for them. If you have any additional feedback or questions that you'd want to share, including any suggestions for specific ways that we can improve, I'd invite you to contact me at your convenience. I can be reached at 781-373-8452. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts; all feedback (positive and negative) is invaluable to us. We are always striving to improve upon our client and talent experience. -- Softworld Vice President, Professional Development
