Pros

Once a great company that would allow you room for advancement and exposure to learn different areas of the business. There are plenty of opportunities for international exposure with front line customer experience to help build your professional portfolio. Overall Solar has a good product with good customers. Although Solar is very Oil & Gas based they are starting to become more and more active in the Power Generation space.

Cons

To be blunt, too much politics and nepotism at the management levels. Pay increases and promotions can be quite stagnant unless you're in the inner circle who rotate management positions every 2-3 years. This has created a self driven culture that is now focused on 'checking the box' enabling your next position in 2 years time instead of developing your team.

Pros

Solar Turbines feels like a family where everyone cares for one another. Senior management listens to feedback from all employees and are willing to adopt new ideas. HR Department takes feedback from employees very seriously. Safety is of the utmost priority.

Cons

NIL, Can't think of any at the moment.

Pros

Great people and locations (Kearny Mesa & Downtown). The flexible time is nice, and managers are starting to implement working from home options. Three weeks vacation and holiday shutdown at Christmas helps.

Cons

The compensation for talented employees and hard workers has deteriorated over the last 4-5 years. Competition is pretty fierce for a 3% raise. They have taken the CAT corporate mentality and made it near impossible to move up without befriending a certain manager or director. Management and department heads definitely have their favorites.
