Pros

Good Co. that has always been behind what it sells. Plenty if not too much overtime. Great incentive programs, provided you get the time to incorporate them into your busy day.

Cons

Little focus on what can become another feather in the Corporations hat. With a name like Solar, why are they not involved in solar energy or other non-carbon type energy? Has become too stringent in their internal policies.

Pros

The company has been (for many years) and currently still is one of the best in its industry. The company values work/life balance, actively plans ahead to avoid layoffs, and has a good 401k plan. People are great to work with. Very few schemers and weasels (not zero, but very few).

Cons

The company's market position has been under pressure from competitors and cannot seem to innovate adequately to pull away. "Old school manufacturer" is the company culture. Short sighted planning from the parent corporation, Caterpillar, has been very negative.

Pros

Good benefits Unbelievable work-life balance Solid industry Vacation time Great 401K match I would define Solar as the golden handcuffs. It's a great place to work, but you are always yearning for more. They give you just enough to be satisfied and that's it.

Cons

Promotions/Raises are based on years of service opposed to performance Hard to implement change Old Technology No incentive to be a above average worker.
