Pros

Comfortable work environment, can definitely coast once you get some experience

Cons

Compensation isnt great for engineering, especially in SoCal. If your hired at a low salary grade, there's really no process to catch up aside from leaving the company. salary with respect to years of experience: 3.5 yoe - 66k (SG 46) 5 yoe - 75k (SG 48) 8 yoe - 94k (SG 50)

Pros

Working from home and somewhat flexible work schedule when going back to the office.

Cons

Business depends on oil prices, so boom and busts that have required hiring freezes and voluntary layoffs multiple times over the last 15 years. Moving up the corporate ladder can be difficult and often just depends on who you know and if they like you.
