My experience with solar city

Pros

Solar city is a great place to learn about electrical and they offer some of the best health and other benefits. They also have a good panel (commission) pay if your an installer.

Cons

Working here for the past 3 years has been like a roller coaster. When sales is doing well, we make good money and stay busy but when sales is not doing so well we could go without work for up to a week. Management tends to play favorites and promote their friends instead of those who actually deserve it and have the skill. Many of the crew leads (not all of them, but most of them) can be very lazy and they do the bare minimum instead of doing whatever they can to help their crew.

Pros

Great deal of money to be made, especially in new territories such as New Mexico.

Cons

On-board training is very poor. Very little local management support. Favorites picked and played at the local level. Talk of projecting transparency to the public and what sales consultants are urged to say in the customer's home are very diverse. (Eg; Don't lie vs. it's just a little lie, etc.). HR or "People Empowerment" will side with management to hid wrong doing of managers.

Pros

Great industry to be a part of regardless of company Good compensation package Looks good on resume to find other solar jobs but no long term growth unless you're favorite

Cons

Favoritism is rampant and upper management doesn't listen when notified Team Lead/Manager was extremely biased and created hostile work environment that was ignored when reported to upper management If you're not a YES Man,don't expect to be there long because you won't be heard
