Pros

Great support from company, great training, growing industry, good benefits

Cons

crappy company leads (no show, fake opps), you need to be able to generate your own leads or you won't survive in this business. Very poor work/life balance. You probably wont have weekends off if you want to make money. Very high turn over ratio, majority of sales people operating in Socal are under 1 year of experience.

Pros

Visionary company leading the way as the #1 residential company in North America. Strong brand presence. 20-30% close rate. Buy, Lease, PPA offered all in house. Compensation: Base Salary - $30k on average ...this amount seems to be regional. Leads - Retail leads generated and given to you. Benefits - Standard package offered Calendar bookings - In store Reps book company lead appointments Company Car - with gas card Commission bonus for Self generated leads. Upward mobility - growth options if willing to travel, expanding markets Quota- Low quotas with a ramp up, very reasonable

Cons

Compensation: Commission much lower than a 1099 position (however see Pro's) Low commission for Company lead closes ($15 a panel- average system 5k system = approx $300) Benefits - No 401k match, substituted with a "MLM" type recruitment program Travel - Company car an option after 90 days, required to use personal vehicle, can expense milage at the standard rate... takes about 15-30 days to have an expense report processed. Work Life Balance: Low, expectation is to be available 7 days a week for company lead scheduling. 50-60 hour on call work weeks the norm. No set definition of standard work week offered. (ask at the interview, very loose wording ... nothing in handbook) Turnover- High (ask in interview average team age with the company) most likely unique to local manger Company bookings - No standard system for lead assignment of company leads, open to unbalanced assignments. Quota - Self generation of leads required, Door Knocking / open canvassing expected. This is beyond "I formation".

Pros

I came to SolarCity about a year and half ago...and it was the best experience of my life. I was able to move up quick because of my performance and in a very short time I made it to sales director. I took a step backwards title and pay wise to start at SolarCity. It was totally worth it. This is a place that appreciates hard work and thinking out of the box to make things work better. You have to be a self starter and ready to give your all but the reward is financial and also rewarding to your sole. Sounds corny but you are saving the world. 1 rooftop at a time. Compensation is great, Career opportunity is great, and though I work hard and a lot, I actually get to see my kids and wife on a regular basis. That didn't happen very much as a Sales Director at my last company.

Cons

We have growing pains. When you grow this fast, you have issues. That can be frustrating at times. But the great thing about it is that we have a very strong senior leadership team that is always willing to listen and try to make things better.
