Pros

Excellent work environment. Great potential for growth in the company. Knowledgeable managers with positive attitude.

Cons

If you can't adapt, a job at SolarCity is not right for you. The energy sector is constantly evolving - being able to adapt to change is critical. This is not really a negative, because with adapation, comes great opportunity.

Pros

It's great to work for a company that is helping the world. Things are always changing here, working to be more efficient and everybody is working towards making clean energy the no-brain solution for homeowners and businesses. It's nice to come into work each morning knowing you are doing something great.

Cons

Everybody seems to always be inundated with work. Most people seem happy to put in long hours because they believe in the purpose of the company but yeah often times people seem to be overworked.

Pros

-Great Product: We literally change the way that we generate/consume energy in this country and save our customers money. I joke with my friends that I am in the "giving away money business" because most of my customers put no money into their system and save money right off the bat. This is a win-win and an absolute no brainer. -Brilliant Executives: Elon Musk, Lyndon & Peter Rive, and Toby Corey. 'Nuff said. -Great Pay: I can easily afford to live in the bay area and put together awesome savings for the future. -Fun Employees: I have met some of my best friends here. We all enjoy each other's company and feed off one another's energy. We have happy hours about once/month in which different departments show up to have fun. We enjoy collaboration and learning from one another. -AWESOME Culture: Pretty much self-explanatory given the information above. -Innovation: We invented the solar leasing model and have pioneered mass-adoption of solar across the country. The investment community has shown that this is really a "21st century energy company." We are also partnered with Tesla Motors and Google, arguably the two most innovative companies in the world. -Benefits: full health, vision and dental. Stock options. -Constant Stimulation: Nobody is ever bored at SolarCity. We constantly interface with customers, from customer care, to contract verification, to the builder program, and ultimately sales. No two customers or situations are alike, and you have to remain on your toes. We work with awesome people throughout the country to help them save on their energy bills. -Always a Learning Experience: In an industry that is so new, it is impossible to make yourself well-versed in one day, or even one year for that matter. The industry is constantly evolving; there are always new regulations and roadblocks standing in our way. Customers are becoming more privvy to our offering and find new objections all the time. We remain malleable to constantly adapt. -Compensation for referrals: I referred my best friend and girlfriend to work here, and they have thoroughly enjoyed their time here. I received $500 for each referral, and would happily refer anyone I know to work here.

Cons

-VERY fast-paced: Processes and departments can change with the snap of a finger in this company. What is true and comfortable one day may be false and non-existent the next. One has to stay alert and be ready to adapt when called upon. We ramp and re-vamp processes left and right. Our quotas go up. My position last year is completely different from -We Outsell our Capacity: With such a great product, it is only natural that sales would move faster than operations. However, this does lead to a lengthy backlog and customers that sit dormant for an extended period of time. This can lead to a somewhat frustrated customer if expectations are not set properly. -Hard work: I am constantly grinding and half to hibernate once/month to keep my sanity. Towards the end of the month, I will fall asleep at 7 pm on a Friday night and wake up at 4 pm on Saturday. I consider this absolutely necessary. There is always work to be done, and if you enjoy what you do like I do, you do the work when it comes up. This can be hard for people looking for more free time and flexible schedules. I find that these downsides actually lead to upsides when looked at properly. However, some people may be deterred by how quickly this company moves. I thrive in fast-paced and often chaotic environments, but not everyone does. The fact that we are backlogged can also be spun into a selling point because the fact that we are backed up means that we are doing something right. It can be frustrating when customers have what they consider to be a less than ideal experience and there is nothing that my department can do to help.
