Pros

Locations are generally nice with an array of refreshments. Working at place that is committed to helping the environment. Co-workers were generally nice.

Cons

Employee's being pushed out due to new management and politics. Lack of organization, Lack of training. Real lack of communication. Selling a values system that no longer exists. Politics, Politics, Politics...there were so many times this happened in different areas of the company. If you worked at the HQ location dealing with the ridiculous parking situation, involving shuttles, carpool, or employee paid parking passes. Long hours are expected and compensation is under market value for lower level positions.

Pros

Great work environment, fun, exciting and good people, and promotes from within. Growing fast and is expected to go public soon.

Cons

Too much politics and micro management. Employees are promoted to be managers with no manager experience and no manager training. There is room for advancement but there are not very many options. There are a ton of entry level positions and management level positions but there are not many positions in between which makes it difficult to advance.

Pros

Young, energetic culture, though that is changing as the company grows. Great, genuine people No weak links among the departments - strong sales and marketing, great products and services, engineering, field operations, etc. The founders, Peter and Lyndon, are very hands on and have great instincts, but also have integrity and don't have the "edge" that you sometimes get from visionary leaders

Cons

Extremely fast pace, even for Silicon Valley, guess this is good and bad but can make work-life balance difficult sometimes The culture is changing as the company grows - this is inevitable and happens to all companies at SolarCity's stage, but SolarCity's culture is so unique that it's still kind of a bummer The company has outgrown its available parking at headquarters, which is pretty annoying.
