TOXIC Culture & Theory X Leadership

Pros

Immediate work team was very cohesive

Cons

Management by fear and chaos; intense leadership and HR attrition; pay increases only awarded to 10% of employees...coincidentally all the CEO's direct reports, so be it; those hired with bonus and equity potential lost them without replacement when the company went private and the company didn't address it (>30% pay cut for those affected); no training department and no support for ongoing professional development; no focus on building a diverse workforce; executives publicly demean employees and gloat that it will discourage others from disagreeing with them; investment in client-facing products has been extremely limited, while HQ has been redesigned and redecorated multiple times at great expense. If the CEO could run the company without employees, he would because he has so little respect for them or their contributions.

Pros

Very good peers who have been working during lot of years from the original company, not the current one which is the result of Tony Aquila' acquisition in the 2010's.

Cons

Absolute managerial disaster, with a complete lack of long-term plan and how-to's in order to clearly execute actions. Mid-managers and Associates are hired as in a bid, paying for them a lot, but with such a high instability they do not last more than 4 months in their position. This causes obviously a feeling of going without direction. Due to this lack of guidance, you are obliged of plan and set the targets and procedures for achieving the goals by yourself... goals which are constantly moved depending on the interest of your upper managers and, surprisingly, you merely achieve them at the end of the Fiscal Year :-) What is more, you get blamed and punished even publicly in reviews for "not having done things properly". Additionally, base workers, who are key for the ongoing business of the company, are leaving the company either by themselves or by being dismissed in strange circumstances, due to no long-term career plan or even decent salary reviews. The future ahead is really awkward...
