      Decent job, so-so coworkers

      Pros

      It's a large company, but the culture is somewhat intimate. You get to know just about everyone. There are company wide events that are nice, such as Thanksgiving dinner, and retirement parties. The 401k matching is quite good.

      Cons

      While it is nice to be able to get to know everyone, certain personalities are very difficult to deal with. There were also often problems with equipment, which made high activity testing cycles stressful. This goes back to difficult coworkers. Certain coworkers did less work than others, be it general maintenance or QC testing. Also, as the junior member I was moved around to different shifts often, which was difficult to adjust to.

      Pros

      Highly competent people with a drive for excellence. Leadership is committed to people development and protecting workers while still having a common sense approach. Very competitive pay.

      Cons

      The only con is if I ever move away from this site, it's doubtful that I will find this culture elsewhere.

      Pros

      After 31 years, I am still happy that I joined Solvay. The people are tremendous with valuable technical skills, compassion toward the community, and a real collaborative environment. As a company, we are safety minded, customer obsessed and working toward a more sustainable future. Everyone is welcome. For those that are driven and flexible, there are multiple career opportunities and managers are interested in developing people.

      Cons

      Though we saw some slow down with the pandemic, Solvay tried to take care of its people even through the toughest times. Even with a great portfolio of products, Solvay is still impacted by the general economy.
