Pros

Leniency, Free food on Saturdays

Cons

Favorites are played. Mangament only praises those who hit the quota. (Top agents are praised the most but only do the minimum for the rest of the work to fall on the other agents.) No genuine interest in the associates. Numbers driven. Managements paycheck is based off of how well the associate does so if you're making money, they're making money. If you're not, start looking for something else, even if they try to persuade you to stay. Not worth the stress and headache.

Pros

The income potential at is dealership is very good. If you are good, the opportunity to earn a realistic 90k is there

Cons

The company is typical of all large automotive groups. They teach the employees a bunch of multiple letter acronyms so as to remember their " success processes". They tell the sales force to tell the customers that " We do things a little different here at Sonic" But the truth is they don't. The Luxury experience that a BMW customer should expect is gone. Sonics' processes lump them in with every other customer that buys any other car made in the world. Still viewed with the same contempt that you'd expect from a " Buy here pay here" lot on a corner of the city in any town USA. Buyers get pressured to buy the same way, made to wait hours while the process grinds along the same way, and get hounded to submit a positive survey after it all. The survey...it's a sham. Sonic ties the result of that survey to your bonus. Get a bad survey, lose your bonus for the month. Sometimes potentially over $1000.00. ( And what customer would be expected to rate the dealership positively after waiting 6 hours on a Saturday to buy a car....AFTER he said yes) Probably the biggest Con to working at Sonic is how out of touch Corporate management is. A salesman signs on knowing that it is a 5 day work week with Sunday, and one other weekday being your off days. Additionally, You get a list of Holidays that the store is closed. 2-3 annually. ( Here's the really bad part) Sonic considers Holidays " off days". Thanksgiving becomes your off day. Christmas becomes your off day. ( Besides,...you should be able to do the same things on Thanksgiving that you'd do on any other off day anyways...Go to the doctor,...pick up supplies from a downtown mom and pop ran shop,. Who needs a non holiday as an off day anyway...right?) Then one month you are asked to work on a Sunday all of the sudden ( the store had a bad month) At Christmas time, they tell you you forfeit any day off from the day after Christmas through the 26th through the 1st of the next month. And, oh by the way....it's from open to close everyday. A little gift from the folks at corporate. Then,....as if that wasn't a testimony to how out of touch their corporate officers are..you get a daily motivational rah-rah email from the big guy at the top. Sonic is not the best place to work and shop
