Pros

The general working environment is full of good people and Sonic as a company has been trying to be cutting edge when it comes to technology for their employees such as iPads, etc.

Cons

Management is under a lot of pressure to sell a lot of units which trickles down. Seems as though they are paid on this, so filling the floor with extra salespeople only ends up costing that tier money so they don't care. Leads to a lot of underappreciated and unhappy employees that have a lot more to offer. Also the hours are excessive, which wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't overcrowded.

Pros

Decent wages and a great GM at the dealership.

Cons

Upper management did not have a clue. They are so focused on bottom line they neglect their most important asset.......the employees!! Micromanagement would be an understatement. If they would trust the GM and allow them to do their job Sonic would be a greater attraction to top rate employees. Employee turnover is over the top for the very reasons I have stated, Local managers are nothing more than "yes men". Sonic has dealerships all over the country, but think they can all be run the same. That is why they need to allow local GMs to manage the dealerhip in a way to blend with the local invironment.

Pros

some awesome co-workers.. A couple managers even!

Cons

Sales managers are overworked and underpaid as are the sales people. No Appreciation. Cheap GM that has slashed the payplan. Every car is a $200 mini with weak bonus'. Sell ten cars and you will make $2k before taxes/insurance. Sonic is implementing "true pricing" where every car is non-negotiable, meaning commission will stay around $200 for every car...decent place to learn the business and move on. Not the place for a seasoned pro.
